Beach Day & Saturday 9

Saturday 9 is below.

We finally had a family outing at the beach. It wasn't very busy and we only needed mask when we hit the bathrooms. This is Newport Beach, home of the Dory Fishermen and not to far from Huntington Beach- Surfing USA.
Beach hair, don't care, fun in the sun by the sea, yea for me!

The Air Force Thunderbirds flew over hospitals in California today as it headed over Hoag Hospital. They were in San Diego earlier.

We did use face mask when we went to the bathroom and later when we got food.

1) In this song, Lady Gaga sings about the Arizona sky and California gold. Have you visited many of our western states? I am from California. I have been to Neveda, Oregon, Washington, Utah and Arizona.

2) She sings that she's overwhelmed and can't find the words to express herself. Do you find it easier to share your feelings verbally or in writing? Writing.

3) Her real name is Stefani Germanotta. She took her stage name from the Queen song, Radio Gaga. Do you have a favorite Queen song? We are the Champions

4) Her dad is Joe Germanotta, president of GuestWifi, a company that enables hotels and restaurants to offer high-speed wifi to their customers. Do you consider yourself tech savvy? I know what I need to know. I learned to build webpages using html.

5) Early in her career, Lady Gaga performed songs for a children's audio book called The Portal in the Park. Tell us about the last book you finished -- did you listen to an audiobook, or read a download to an electronic device or a bound book with pages? I haven’t read a book since last fall. It Is Not Suppose To Be This Way by Lysa Terkeurst. I have been reading out of several Bibles for various studies I am doing. I use to read more, but now I craft/Bible journal. I want to read the Left Behind Series again.

6) She prefers dogs to cats and tea to coffee. Do you agree with her? I prefer dogs. I can’t drink coffee anymore so I drink tea. There is a tea I like called Roastaroma by Celestial Seasons. It taste a bit like coffee so I have that some mornings.

7) Back in 2015, she appeared at the Academy Awards, performing a medley to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music. The movie's star, Julie Andrews, graciously came onstage to thank Gaga for her showstopping performance. Whom did you most recently thank? My son and his wife for inviting us to the beach Friday.

8) In 2018, when this song was first released, retailer Toys R Us closed all its stores and went out of business. What's the last toy you purchased? Legos

9) Random question: How has social media made your life better? It has allowed me to keep in touch with my family and friends. I have rekindled friendship with old school friends and made new friends. I love how I can be in a Bible study with ladies from all over. I love how we can have a virtual camp or cruise thanks to social media and enhanced websites.I have had a website/blog since 2000.

Welcome to Tuesday 4 in honor and memory of Toni Taddeo.
Questions to Think About

1. What kind of setting do you like in a book as in nation, country, city, beach, resort, village and why? If there is no preference, how about a type of character? I use to be an avid reader. I enjoy historical fiction, and especially that of a biblical nature. My favorite series is The Left Behind Series that chronicles the events of the world after the Rapture. I enjoy a light mystery, because it challenges me to think. I like books that have been made into movies like Gone With The Wind and Little Women. I don't read much except for my Bible and books for bible studies I am involved with.

2. Can you tell us about a favorite character in a book you've enjoyed or a program you watch? I like Tom Sellecks character in Blue Blood. A sensible man that is wise, truthful and even tempered. He is a man that shows great character.

3. Why are you interested in the TV programs or movies you watch or books you read ? That is, what attracts you to them. I do like to watch a lot of tv programs. I like medical shows like Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Med, The Resident, The Good Doctor and New Amsterdam. I like when the shows do cross over. Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. Each has a focus on the Essential workers and how they are all needed in the city. I like to see 911 and the Rookie. Hubby and I like to watch Blue Bloods and we were sad to see the end of Hawaii Five 0. Hubby and I like to see Survivor and Dances with the Stars.
I spend a lot of time with my bible journaling/devotions/crafting. Right now I am only reading my Bible and just finished Judges. This will be my 4th time reading through the Bible.

4. Do you get upset if the routine of your day is upset or can you go with the flow? I am retired and I take each day as it comes. We have the grands right now since there is no school. We try to keep them on a schedule based on what my daughter has given them. The Covid 19 pandemic has curtailed my social activities, but I am not bored. I keep my self busy and now that the weather is nice, I am enjoying time in the backyard.

Sat.9 I'll Always Love My Mama

Saturday 9: I'll Always Love My Mama (1973)

Mom and I in 1973 at the Girls League Mother Daughter Banquet. I said the prayer that night.

1) This week's featured artists, The Intruders, sing that they don't know how their mama made it through the week without ever getting a good night's sleep. How did you sleep last night? I slept well, but did not get enough sleep. My problem is not getting to bed early enough. Then something woke me up so I had less than 6 hours sleep.

2) The Intruders performed this song on Soul Train, a syndicated show that ran for more than 3 decades. What show do you try never to miss? There are lots of shows I like, mostly medical/fire/police. I watched Soul Train for several years. We had neighborhood friends that came over and we would dance. Somewhere I have a picture of me dancing in a soul train line dance with kids from my youth group. We saw the Jacksons and Gladys Night and the Pips and so many other great Motown performers on Soul Train. When I got married in 1974, we had a Soul Train line that was super long. It was lots of fun. So many fun good memories! We also watched American Bandstand. I remember my aunt dancing with us around 1962. I love music!

3) On Soul Train, the Intruders wore solid black shirts beneath their brightly colored jackets. Black, white, khaki, navy and gray are considered neutral colors, because they go with everything. If we were to check your closet, which would we find you wear most often: black, white, khaki, navy or gray? I would say black.

4) Especially for Mother's Day: Access Hollywood named Carol Brady of The Brady Bunch TV's #1 mom. Who is your favorite TV mom? I liked Carol Brady too.

5) Mother Winters always gave Sam peppermint tea to calm her stomach. Do you have any tried-and-true home remedies to share? I use to drink a lot of peppermint tea for a stomach tea, but I had to stop because it aggravated my esophagus and I got really bad heartburn. I like to use honey for various things. I buy it at our local farmers market. I also use essential oils. I mix coconut oil and essential oils to make my own face cream and lotions. I have a lotion I use for sore muscles. I make my own sugar scrubs for the bath. I drink Chamomile tea with honey to sleep.

6) Sam's mother always tips 15% in restaurants. Sam has worked in food service and is more judgmental, tipping between 10% and 25%, depending on the quality of the service. What's your tipping policy? Are you more like Sam or her mother? How do you handle tips for carry out or delivery during this Covid-19 crisis? When we use to each out we would tip between 15 and 20% depending on the place and the service. We have only had one food delivery and we gave him $5.00

7) When the tip of her shoelace becomes frayed, Sam's mother snips off the end and then paints the tip with clear nail polish. Good as new! Sam thinks that's crazy because you can just buy new laces for less than $2. Are you more frugal like mother or spendthrift like daughter? I try to do things myself. Sometimes I am frugal and other times I am not. I color my own hair and forgo the nail salon so that I have money for my crafts. My crafts have kept me and the grands busy during this stay at home time.

8) Mother Winters loves how french vanilla smells and burns her Yankee Candles all year around. Do you use scented candles or air fresheners? I have allergies so I use essential oils. I put oil in a diffuser. I have different scents that I use at different times of the years. I have some I use when I am not feeling well. I use Young Living oils and they have special oils

9) Sam is celebrating Mother's Day with her mother's favorite, Hershey Bars. Would you prefer classic milk chocolate, dark chocolate or chocolate with almonds?I like dark chocolate with almonds. But I had to give up chocolate when I got acid reflux. I do have a new page listed above called Fun Things, and there is a funny about chocolate.

Mom and I in 2007, she passed in May of 2010. I sure miss her!

A tribute page to her is Here.
