1. Are you decorating your home for fall? Thanksgiving?
2. Are trees changing in your area yet? Do you mind showing a fall photo from your area? I would have to drive around to take pictures and it is a bit early for us.
3. Do you like to use scents in your home? What kind do you use and what scents do you enjoy in your home. I use to burn scented candles but they bother my allergies. I have been using Essential Oils for 5 years now and I diffuse scents.
4. Fall's weather usually turns a bit chilly. Sometimes we change how we eat by seasons. Can you share a nice recipe for a good fall meal with us?
We like to make more soups when the weather becomes cooler. Chicken soup is a family favorite we make it a lot. We also like turkey. I will make a large pot of turkey soup after Thanksgiving using the left over bones. Hubby and I do enjoy a smaller pot during cold weather. Our local store sells a 2 leg turkey pack. I add chopped fresh carrots, celery and onion to a large pot of water along with the turkey legs.I add chopped garlic, bay leaves, and 1 drop of thyme oil. I cook it on medium heat for about an hour. Then I add fresh cut zucchini, sweet potato and salt and pepper and cook another half hour. Finally I had frozen peas because hubby loves them. I stir everything and cook until all the veggies are cooked. Hubby likes brown rice with his soup so I cook that in the rice cooker. We put the rice in a bowl and add the soup mixture. We usually don't eat anything else with it because it is so filling.
My family likes when I make this.
Crunchy Apple Crisp
4 cups peeled, sliced Golden Delicious apples
½ cup water or apple juice
4 teaspoons of firmly packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
½ cup oatmeal, quick or old fashioned
¾ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons of chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons of melted butter
In a mixing bowl, combine apples, water, brown sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Tossing lightly to coat apples. Layer on bottom of 8-inch square glass baking dish. Combine nuts, and brown sugar. Add margarine, mixing well. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Bake at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Serve warm or chilled. Makes 4 large servings. We like it warm with vanilla ice cream!
I did a late post yesterday that has a few pictures from Fall at Disneyland.
