Thankful Thursday/Health Update

Thanks to those who prayed for me concerning my colonoscopy. I prayed for strength on Sunday and Monday. Monday was all liquid going in and out! I had to drink 8 ounces of solution every 15 minutes from 6pm -9pm. They recommend you chill the drink first, but it made me too cold. I could drink it much easier at room temperature. I kept busy crafting while standing up. I got to bed around midnight when I stopped having to run to the bathroom. Then I woke up at 2:20am on my own and had to drink 4 more glasses. We left at 7am and I checked in at 7:50. After checking to see if we had drivers, 4 of us were checked in. The long room must have had 12 beds. We undressed and all our items went on a shelf under the bed. I got an IV and heart monitor put in place. I had to answer several questions. I was shaking in part to nerves and because it was cold! They wrapped a heated blanket around my shoulders and another two on top of me. I was having a little bit of heartburn from taking 4 mint flavored tablets with the yucky drink taken earlier. I was warm and getting sleepy when the nurse said it was my turn. I got to the room and Dr. Chen said hello and mentioned that this was our third visit. I told them to be careful with my right hip. They asked me several questions to make sure I knew what I was having. They help me turn to my left side and made sure I was comfortable. They put the mask on my face and that is the last thing I remember. Before I knew it, I was back home. Hubby brought me some water while I was sitting down. Then I told him I was going to bed. I must have fallen right to sleep and slept for four hours. When I woke up, I asked my husband what happened in recovery.  I don't remember getting dressed or anything. This was my third time having a colonoscopy and I remembered the recovery process from the previous two. I guess I was super tired or maybe it was the Demerol. I had no pain.

I am thankful for getting this image on Monday.

I am thankful for an attentive hubby that took care of me.He helped me change in the recovery room, got me in and out of the car and up the stairs. He brought me chicken soup, crackers and applesauce.

I am thankful to have good insurance. There was no out of pocket cost for the solution or the procedure.

I am thankful for the attentive staff and Dr. Chen. He retired but came back to help because so many procedures had been put on hold because of Covid.

I am thankful that my kids all checked to see how I was doing.

I am thankful that I could sleep through the night.

I am thankful that I could rest today. Hubby and I watched several shows and the Olympics figure skating.

I am thankful for my dog Minnie who stayed by my side.

I am thankful that I had no polyps and so I don't have to have another colonoscopy for 10 years!

I am thankful for your concern and prayers!
