Could we talk about toys? Toys are important to children and sometimes to adults as well. There are memories tied up with toys we loved, toys we miss having in our lives. We found comfort in them, excitement with them and just fun times over all.
1. What was your favorite all time toy?
That would be my doll Jeanette my mom(Santa?) gave me when I was 8. I still have her. In the 90's my son and nephew played football with her and ruined her eyes. I cried and then gave them a big lecture. Later I put her in my sons bed when he was asleep and scared him.
2. What kind of toys did you enjoy growing up?
I liked dolls of course and had all the Barbie dolls. My mom worked for a toy store called Toy City. She managed 9 stores. We didn't get toys all the time. I also got a doctor's medical bag as they were grooming me for that. I loved playing doctor. I was a tomboy too and loved my bike and skateboard. One of my earliest memories is me playing with the boys in the neighborhood. I think I was 4. I didn't like that they could pee behind my playhouse, and I couldn't. I didn't like that they could take off their shirts and I couldn't. I was very completive and as least I had the "clubhouse" When I was around 9, my dad helped me build a clubhouse out of large pieces of cardboard.
3. I think certain bric a brac in the home could be a kind of grown up's toy. What is in your home just purely to make you happy?
My crafting supplies and my crafty corner. I also have some Mickey and Minnie Plush.
4.What games were your favorites and do you still play any games?
I liked Monopoly and Scrabble. I play Word with Friends on my Iphone. It makes my mind work. I loved playing tetherball and hopscotch. Also, a game we called skip tape.
My weekend was busy and interesting. On Saturday I went to my high school's 50th reunion. It was fun. They had a photo area. I didn't take too many pictures. It was sad to see the posters honoring classmates that had passed in the past five year.
Jackie and Veronica.
Jackie worked with my husband at the postal service.
I have known Lana since elementary school.
She was on the reunion committee.
We stayed at the Embassy Suites that night.
The next day we headed to San Clemente Beach
and had a great room overlooking the sea.
The next day we went out to lunch that was recommended by the hotel.
I was trying to take a picture and stood on a brick wall.
My husband was helping me down, but I fell into him as I went down.
I felt a pop and pain in my rib area and was worried.
I took a Motrin and we headed to the beach was just a few blocks away.
We had a nice walk on the pier, grabbed some clam chowder and headed the hotel.
I took some Motrin, but did not sleep well because I worried about my ribs.
The next morning I called an advise nurse and she wanted me to go to ER.
After 3 hours and x-rays, we left. The doctor said I might have a hairline fracture.
and they don't always show on the x-rays especially with osteoporosis.
We went to the movies afterwards and sat in leather recliners that were heated.
We saw Golda. It was not an easy movie to see since it was about the War in 1973
between Israel, Egypt and Syria. I have been reading a book that mentioned it.
We got home around 9pm, after the 102 heat in my town had gone down to 84.
Today I rested and iced my ribs according to doctor's instructions.
I won't be climbing any walls to take a picture again!
