Currently, Tuesday 4 & Saturday 9

I have not had much time to be on the computer this past week. Our AC went out on August 23, and it is still out and hard when we are at 90-100 weather. Our Daughter in law's brother came out to check it the next day and said it was not repairable. It was a great unit when put in, but who knows how old. So, we got an estimate and new we had to get financing for it. Because of our good credit, we qualified for a special energy credit program that gives us a 5.8% Loan. But the program required more paperwork. We were hoping to get the unit in on Sept 7, but that may not happen for another week. We are lucky we have our kids close by, so we have been staying with them. So, in spite of the inconveniences, we are still blessed! Our new unit will be more efficient and save us money.

My biopsy is healing well. But then I will have to have the MOHS surgery in a few weeks, and I will have to start all over with the wound care. This surgery preserves as much skin as it can and thankfully my skin heals well. I am thankful it is not the deadly skin cancer.

I took a train adventure with my friends on Saturday. I will write about it on Friday Fave 5.

Here is my brief version of Tuesday 4

1. I started drinking coffee after age 30 to help wake me up. I think I am mostly conditioned to have a cup in the morning for the same reason. But half the amount of caffeine.

2. If I opened up a shop, it would be a combo coffee shop and bookstore. Susan's Book and Brew.

3. I am not super particular about my coffee.

4. I drink Folgers Half Calf and like a sweet cream creamer. If I go to Starbucks, I drink a half-caff latte with sugar free vanilla syrup, whip cream and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Manic Monday (1985)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Bangles lead singer Susannah Hoffs sings that "it's 6:00 already." What time did you wake up this morning? 8am

2) She's running late for work and she wishes her bed was already made so she wouldn't have to spend time doing it. Do you ever leave the house without making your bed? I have when in a hurry. I don't make my bed right away anymore. I heard it was healthier to let it air out for a while.

3) She sings that it would take an airplane to get her to work on time. Are you usually early, on time, or late? I like to be early.

4) Since Monday is the start of her hectic workweek, she wishes it was Sunday because that's her "fun day." What's your favorite day of the week? Sunday when I go to church.

5) "Manic Monday" was written by Prince. What's your favorite Prince song? Let's Go Crazy

6) In 1985, when this song was a hit, Sears promoted sleepwear with characters on them in their children's department. GI Joe pajamas were popular. When you were a kid, did you have a favorite pair of pjs? I don't remember.

7) A fashion tradition dating back to the early 1900s states that you should put your white slacks, shoes, jackets and belts away after Labor Day. Do you follow that rule? No. Especially since our summer weather last until mid October.

8) Traditionally Labor Day marks the moment when fans turn their attention to the NFL and NCAA football. Will you be rooting for a particular football team this season? No.

9) According to the auto insurance industry, the average American spends 52 minutes (26 each way) behind the wheel every day traveling to and from work. How do you while away the time when you're stuck in traffic? My husband does most of the driving so I craft. I enjoy listening to music.

Currently and Tuesday 4

I am thinking... the biopsy I had on my cheek today.

I am thankful for... good insurance and a nice day at the beach on Sunday.

I am remembering...my parents and grandparents.

On my mind...the heatwave coming on Wednesday-Sunday. Over 100!

I am pondering these words...Let go and let God.

From the learning rooms.... trying to figure out my new printer.

From the kitchen... Leftovers today. Seabass, shrimp, cheesy potatoes and coleslaw

I am wearing... khaki shorts and white t-shirt.

I am creating...the pages for my current Bible study called Lost & Found.

I am going...get a little tray ready with my cleaning things for my biopsy wound.

 I am reading...Angelwalk.

I am hoping...my biopsy incision heals well.

 I am hearing...the diffuser.

Around the house...quiet now, hubby went to pick up grands.

One of my favorite things...crafting/Bible journaling.

A few plans for the rest of the week...lunch with friends, Bible study, lunch with a friend. Worship Night and my granddaughter is singing.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...My grandson first day of school. ASB VP  4.0 GPA wants to be a surgeon. Spent the summer as a volunteer at the local hospital. Class of 2026!

I was going to post a picture of me on the beach, but decided to go with this.

1. What gets your blood to boiling? Politics. It divides people. The actual battle is in the spiritual realm. I tend to be a peacekeeper, but at times I let it get to me. I go to God and remember that He is in control.

2.What does a really good day look like for you? What makes you say, "That was a great day"?
Yesterday was a great day. We went to church, then went to the beach. We had lunch at our favorite place and then spent two hours close to the waves, enjoying the sights and the sounds. Some days we do nothing and that can be a great day, especially when we have been busy. My family birthday party on the 9th was a great day.

3. Are you continuing to grow mentally, spiritually, talent wise or are you just marking time? I am thankful for each day. Now that I am 70, I will try to enjoy each day as I can. I want to keep growing with my relationship with God and live by the teachings of Jesus. I want to do what I can to take care of my physical body. I want to learn new things if the opportunity arises if I am able to do so.

4. Have you changed your hair style since high school?  Why or why not? Mother nature has changed my hair style since going grey. But I have colored my hair, and it is a lighter brown with a hint of red, just like my mom used to be. I wore it in different lengths in high school, even going to a pixie cut when I was on the swim team. I wear it curlier now, but do like to straighten it.

Looking out my window Cloudy, around 55 but high will be 71

I am thinking of what I am wearing today since I am meeting friends for lunch.

I am thankful a comfortable bed and a hot breakfast.

One of my favorite things is Bible journaling.

I am creating pages for my Lent study based on the names of Jesus.

I am wearing shorts/tank pajamas

I am reading Behold the Man by Bodie & Brock Thoene
watching the birds go to the birdbath
listening to the Bible Recap program

I am hoping to continue physical therapy for my back.

I am learning new things from my Bible reading. When David was on the run from Saul, he sent his parents to a safer place to live.

In my kitchen, gifts to pack on the table. Going to ask hubby what he is making. :)

In my garden: Drying out to plumeria cuttings and 12 succulent pots.

A few plans for the rest of the week... lunch with friends today, Chosen movie part 3 on Wednesday during the day. Dinner later with family to celebrate our daughter's 36 birthday and grandson's 11th birthday. Marriage group, physical therapy on Thursday and shopping. Good Friday service on Friday. Make Easter baskets for grands on Saturday. Church on Sunday and Family gathering at my son's house.

Party Recap and Injuries.

I ♥ my family. Audrina is holding her stuffed pet that looks like Rey.

I took more pictures on my husband's phone.

The party was a success! I am thankful for all that gave
hubby a birthday to remember!
My daughter got all the decorations and picture boards.
She also got all the things for the candy bar.
My older son and his wife made bbq chicken and albondigas and strawberry lemonade.
My other son and his wife made beans, rice and salsa and chips.
My sisters brought potato salad, pasta salad, green salad
and fresh tortillas from a tortilla factory.

I supplied all the pictures for the picture board.
I usually make something, but they know I can't do a lot right now.

Most of you know I hurt my finger when I fell and landed on it. 4 more weeks in a splint. But I must have also put a strain on my already messed up shoulder that I hurt over a year ago. This past week I moved it and felt a weird pain and then a numbing pain that shot all the way down my arm and to my bad thumb. The pain/numbness comes and goes with certain movement. So, I will see the doctor Monday morning. I am going to ask them if I can have an MRI because they did an x-ray a year ago and that mostly shows broken bones, but not muscle damage. I am currently going to physical therapy for my back, and it is helping. They first took an x-ray of my back in May, and nothing showed but arthritis. I went to PT but did not improve. So, my primary sent me for a MRI that showed the disc bulge and tear. I hope they can also send me to PT for my shoulder at the same place. I am being my own advocate. I am thankful that overall, I am okay. Our cruise is in January, and I want to be able to enjoy it. I do appreciate your prayers. Thank you and enjoy your week!

Tuesday 4 & Wednesday Hodgepodge

It is Sunday evening and I am relaxing in bed watching a special on Martin Luther King. Today we celebrated our firstborn son. He turned 43 today, but actually his birthday in in 2 1/2 hours since he was born closer to midnight. He would be considered a rainbow baby according to todays terminology. A baby born after having had a miscarriage or loss. I had 3 miscarriages and almost lost Andrew. He is a miracle baby! Now he is 43 and I feel old.  He wanted to try out the new Olive Garden for his birthday meal and since it was a holiday, we were able to meet for lunch. It was really nice!

I spent most of the day finalizing the things for my Bible journaling class tomorrow. We have been doing women of the Bible since last year. This month we will cover Rachel and Leah. We also go over a name of God. This month it is Jehovah Rapah- The Lord who heals me. Some of the verses that have new in it.

Isaiah 43: 18-19

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.

1. What is something you have always wanted to do? When will you do it? I would like to travel more.

2. Friends are coming to town to visit you. What arrangements will you make and what sights do you think you would take them to see? There is not room in my home since my grands are here 4 days a week. I would let them know what the nicest hotels are depending on what they want to do. I am 25 miles from Disneyland, 35 miles to Newport Beach, 49 miles to Los Angeles, 69 miles to Palm Spring, 63 miles to Big Bear and the sow and 95 miles to San Diego. There are a lot of places to go to.

3. It's time to relax after a busy Tuesday. What sounds good for tonight? A movie? Which one? A book? Early to bed? I will rest for awhile once I get home from my Bible journaling class. At 5 pm, I have a virtual craft class. I really need to clear off my desk and update my planner!

4. Plan something for this weekend that includes going out or having people in. We haven't made any plans yet other than church. It is supposed to rain this weekend.  do want to plan a visit with my sister. She lives about 40 minutes away.

1. On January 18th we commemorate A.A. Milne's birthday. Milne is the author of the beloved classic Winnie the Pooh. In many ways Pooh represents innocence and simplicity. His optimism reminds us to appreciate the little things. What are three little things you're appreciating in mid-January?
Though cold for us, our weather is great compared to the freezing temperatures all over. For having the things we need. For my family and being able to see them often.

2. Piglet teaches us even the smallest of individuals can achieve big things with the proper amount of determination. How do your current responsibilities make you feel? I am retired. My days for the most part are easy. We help take care of our grands. We are making plans for our future as we age.  Being right with God is number 1. Making the most with the family is number two.

3. Tigger is known for his enthusiasm and energy, his boundless joy and love of life. What's something you're interested in learning more about in this new year?
I continue to learn new things as I study the bible, especially when I prepare for my Bible journaling class. Other than that, I need to focus on the things I know I need to do like exercise.

4. Eeyore, while a melancholy character, teaches us the importance of resilience and perseverance. How do you stay motivated and persevere in difficult circumstances?
My faith in God is the main thing. Having a few close friends and I can talk to about things in my life.

5. What's the last thing you ate that was made with honey? Warm water with honey.
We get our honey at the local farmer's market. It taste great and it is healthy!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  When I think of Christopher Robin, I think of a song I learned in 7th grade choir. It is called Christopher Robin is saying his prayers. You can hear it here. We also learned The Impossible Dream, On a Clear Day and Let There be Peace on Earth.

Currently & Tuesday 4

I have been at my sister's home since last Thursday. I brought my Bible journaling and crafts to work on while here. She works from home as a marriage and family therapist. Last time I was here, I enjoyed the pool and spa. I have had to stay away from the sun this time because I had a precancerous spot on my nose frozen. I have been out in the shade to do some light gardening and even some journaling. We have enjoyed some home cooked meals and late-night movies. We will see the rest of my family on Saturday for a grand nephew's birthday party at a park we all love. Though in the 80's, it will cool to the 70's.

Today is National Daughter's Day. Here is a picture of me with my daughter and daughters-in-laws.
I hosted a table at a tea for a fundraiser back in 2017. You can see more pictures here.

Last Friday, my grandson was presented as a part of the Homecoming Court as sophomore prince.

Yom Kippur began Sunday Evening and ends tonight. It is the Jewish Holy day. It is the day of Atonement. In the Old Testament, animal was sacrificed to cover the sins of the people for year. In the New Testament, Jesus was the sacrifice so that our sins can be forgiven. You can read more here.

An Autumn Day

1. We have a choice of skeet shooting, horseback riding, a sail on their lake or games on the lawn like lawn tennis, croquette, etc.    Are you interested in one or will you stay at the house reading or talking with friends? I would go sailing!

2.  In the afternoon there is a hayride to enjoy fall colors and pumpkin or apple picking.  Which one suits you best? I would go on the hayride.

3.  In the evening there will be a choice of movies in their screening room. What movie gets your vote?
I don't know what the selections are.

4.  Our last night there is a costume ball.  What will your costume or character be? Queen Esther.
I just finished reading the book A Night with the King. The story of Queen Esther.

Currently and Tuesday 4

I am thinking about my vacation that starts on Tuesday. We have to be at the airport at 4:30am and we fly out at 6am. We change planes in Oakland and then we change planes and head to Eugene Oregon.

I am thankful for my family. My kids cooked a delicious meal on Sunday. All my kids were there to celebrate mine and Jazzy's birthday.

One of my favorite things: Bible journaling

I am creating: Nothing, I have been busy packing. But I did get my nails done. My kids gave me money for my birthday.

I am wearing: 2-piece short pajamas since it is nighttime. I feel refreshed after a long shower.

I am reading (read) /watching Little House on the Prairie and I read a little before I go to bed. Still reading Israel My Beloved.

I am hoping that everything goes well with our flight. Oregon is having a heatwave.

I am learning to have more patience with myself.

In my kitchen, closed! We had leftovers. Chicken, salmon, potatoes and salad. I am drinking a glass of milk that I had with a Motrin.

A moment from my day. Shopping for last minute things like allergy medicine, sunglasses and a new bag for my travel grooming essentials. I forgot the Salon Pas pain patches.

Praying for Hawaii. I have been pretty sad about the devastation in Hawaii. We were supposed to be going to Maui in the spring. I was last there in 2023 for a family wedding. I will leave a link to my photo website of that trip on the end of this post. Here is the picture of my dad, hubby, sister and I under the giant banyan tree. They are hoping it survives.

1. Do you have a favorite bird? The Eagle, it is so majestic. We saw them in Alaska. I like geese too because they make me think of my parents. Here are some from the park I like to go to.

2. Do you find singing birds comforting or annoying? I like to hear them when I am awake. I like to see them playing in the birdbath.

3. Can you recognize the songs of particular birds or is it all the same to you? I like the way doves coo. There are not many different birds here in the city. We do get hummingbirds and they can be loud when they are fighting over the flowers.

4. Every year many birds die from being fed too much sugar.  Grape jelly glues shut the beaks of birds and honey, corn syrup or other substitutes to white sugar does the same to hummingbirds. We are warned to use only white refined sugar for hummingbirds.  Do you feed the birds or provide water or shelter for them? We have two birdbaths. You can see one of them behind my grandson by the wall.

Here is the link to my trip to Maui in 2012.

You click on the date on the left, and the pictures will appear in the middle.

I will be back in a week!
