Could we discuss cooking and kitchens today?
1.How did you learn to cook?
My mom showed me family favorites. I also took a semester of cooking that was required for all 8th grade girls and a semester of sewing. I remember what I sewed more than what I cooked.
2. Do you have a favorite cookbook? I have few, but I don't use them anymore.
3.What is your cooking specialty? Homemade hard shelled ground beef and potato tacos.
4. Is your kitchen well suited for you and if not how would you improve it?
No, it is not and my husband does most of the cooking now since he retired in 2013. I would gut the kitchen and start over if I could afford it. I would take out the existing cabinets and enlarge the window area. I would move the refrigerator to the opposite wall. I would remove the island to have an open floorplan I would add counter space to where the refrigerator is now and add cabinets over that. I would put in cabinets and counter next to the refrigerator side. I would get a new stove and add a nice range hood. The microwaved would not be above the stove! Hubby would want a butcherblock area and I would get a larger kitchen table. So since this is pretend..... I would take out all the flooring in the house and get a simple tile look material throughout. But that's just my imagination. I will focus on what is and be thankful I have a working kitchen that I don't spend a lot of time in.
1. Did you watch the Kentucky Derby this past weekend? Have you ever been to a horse race? Ever ridden a horse? Did you enjoy it? Have you ever been to Kentucky? Do you like Bourbon?
No on the races. In 1978 we visited the Ponderosa Ranch in Lake Tahoe. We road horses. My husbands horse decided to pee and my horse was right behind him. My horse reared back to avoid it and I almost fell off and we were on a trail that had a drop. I never road a horse after that! No on Bourbon.
2. What's something you wish you'd placed in a time capsule twenty-five years ago?
A diary of what was going on in my life at the time. Not just pictures, but how I was really feeling.
3. Are you adventurous? Elaborate.
My mind is, but my body reminds me of my limits. In 2022, I went to Lake Tahoe and my friends and I went on a small hike. Then we became adventurous and went on a much longer, higher hike. We didn't plan on it and didn't have enough water. But it was a great adventure! My husband says I get in a kid I can do it all mode when I am excited about being in new places.
4. Something you want to make this year? It can be a new recipe, craft, journaled project, a milestone you've set for yourself...anything at all.

I am a Bible journaler. I am adding more pictures to go with certain pages. I plan to start a 3rd Bible so I can leave one for each of my kids when I pass on.
5. Cinco de Mayo was also celebrated this past weekend...do you like Mexican food? If so what's your favorite dish? Have you ever been to Mexico? Margarita-yes or no?
I love Mexican food! We only had burritos on Sunday that my son bought for a family gathering that also had pizza. My daughter made green chili chicken enchiladas and brought some over and they were great! No Alcohol.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I am glad I can still learn and grow. All the groups I am in are a blessing. Yes, I am busy, but I am enjoying life with my family and friends! Our granddaughter surprised us Sunday by deciding to get baptized!
