Thankful for my kids and family and how they made my husband's 70th birthday special!
Thankful that hubby and I got to see the new movie called the Conclave. It was very good and had a surprising ending. I did not grow up Catholic and learned some new things.
Thankful that hubby and I could use gift cards and have lunch at Panera before getting a dessert at Sam's Club for our marriage group gathering.
Thankful for our senior marriage group. We had our study and harvest potluck. The fellowship and good was great!
Thankful having good insurance. I saw a Doctor Monday for the numbness in my shoulder to my arm. He gave me steroids for inflammation and referred me to orthopedics. Thankful for the orthopedic appointment today. I hurt more now after the testing. I actually got a choice as to what I want to do. If I do an MRI now and they find a rotator cuff issue what they suspect, then they would want to do surgery to fix and that would take time for an appointment, surgery, recovery and PT. Or I can wait. Pain is manageable, but I only have about 70 percent function. I will go back in December and get a pain shot if needed. Then I will go back after for another consult.
Saturday 9: Back to December (2010)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) Taylor Swift sings that when her mind wanders, it usually returns to a specific day in December. How about you? Do you often daydream? Or do you focus on what's happening in the moment? I am 69 and my friend all say how we get side tracked and forget things for a moment. But most of us can recall many things from the past. Memories are good, and thinking about the positive is much better than the negative.
2) She's looking back on December. We're going with a different take: As we enter November, what are you looking forward to this month? Cooler weather. Our fall is actually just starting. I am looking forward to making more soups. I will pack up my summer clothes and bring out my fall clothes. I am looking forward to this election being over. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and my grandson's birthday. Finally, decorating for Christmas!
3) The lyrics recount a casual conversation between two former sweethearts. They talk about their families, their careers and the weather. Are you good at making small talk? I am a talker and having ADD/ADHD kind of takes over at times. But mostly with people I am close too.
4) This song was rumored to be about her breakup with Taylor Lautner, the actor best known for playing a werewolf in the popular Twilight series. In acknowledgement of the Halloween season: Did you ever trick or treat as a werewolf, vampire, witch, ghost or other scary creature? I don't like scary.
But when we were kids in the 60's. things were much more innocent and fun.
5) Taylor is currently involved with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, and naturally this is his busy time of year. How's your football team (NFL or NCAA) doing this season? I don't really care.
6) Taylor loves chicken tenders and says she'd eat them every day, if calories weren't a consideration. If you were to enjoy tenders right now, what dipping sauce would you prefer --sweet/sour, barbecue or honey mustard? I don't have them very often. I like the honey mustard sauce.
7) Thinking of food ... Taylor Swift recently donated $5 million to Feeding America with the funds earmarked for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Does it make you feel good to do good? If yes, what is something you've done recently to help others? (It may give other Sat-9ers ideas for something they can do.) I just filled up my shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. I packed a box for a girl 7-10. My husband did a boy the same age with the help of our grandson. We also will donate a gift card for teen kids in the foster care system in our community.
8) Back in 2010, when this week's song was a hit, the iPod Nano was also popular. Did you have an iPod? I was gifted one.
9) Random question: Did you more recently run the dishwasher or the clothes washer?
The washer. We only use the dishwasher after Thanksgiving and Christmas when the whole family is here and we use real dishes.
Don't forget to change your clocks back.
