Tuesday 4, Inquiring Minds....

Tuesday 4 is after a few pictures.
I am feeling much better now, almost normal. Hubby has been feeding me really well!

I am working on getting pictures from my phone to the computer because I am running out of space. Here is one picture. This is what we slept in at camp. 2 girls per camper or tent.

Let's inquire about stuff....

1. What gets your blood to boiling? Politics. It does nothing but divide.  I try to stay away from that.
Things are a mess everywhere. There are other things that can get to me if I let it. I try to give my feelings to God and concentrate on what I am grateful for.  Our Cutie group does not talk about Politics. We speak what we enjoy and that is crafting.

2.What does a really good day look like for you? What makes you say, "That was a great day"? Being around family and friends. Sometimes it is just enjoying nature. Sometimes it is crafting and Bible journaling. Attitude has a lot to do with it.

3. Are you continuing to grow mentally, spiritually, talent wise or are you just marking time? Yes, spiritually and still trying to learn new things. Physically is another story.

4. Have you changed your hair style since high school?   Why or why not? Yes, I use to wear it long and straight. I have curly hair and the longer, the straighter like. Now I wear it more natural with the curls. I do blow it out once awhile. I just cut it because shorter is easier to take care of. I do like longer hair, especially in the winter. The first picture is with the shorter version from last week. I used a blow dryer to try to "relax it" Then add some curl. This was in Round Top Texas. I did not by the hat.

This is in Lake Tahoe a few weeks earlier. See how curly my hair is?

See how it is longer too, Oh and one other change. Hair color!

My craft group is called the
Fussy Cutting Cuties.
We like to cut paper!

Saturday 9

I had a great time at camp in Texas. I will share pictures later.
Oh and besides bringing craft stuff back, I also came back with Covid!
So, I am resting and being taken care of by my family while in isolation.
It feels like a cold, stuffy nose, low grade fever and sinus pressure.
My appetite is good, and I can taste what they are making me. Lots of soup!

Saturday 9: Brandy (1972)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song opens in a bar where lonely sailors reminisce about their homes. How long have you lived at your current residence? Does it feel like home?
It will be 7 years. I do miss my last home. Anyplace your family is, is home.

2) Brandy is a waitress at the bar. Have you ever worked at a job where you received tips? No

3) Brandy wears a locket on a braided chain. Are you wearing any jewelry as you answer these 9 questions?  I have 4 piercings in each ear and each one has an earring. I have 3 rings on and my Fitbit watch,

4) According to the lyrics, the sailors seem to prefer whisky or wine. What's your go-to adult beverage? I rarely drink. Once in a while I will share a margarita with my husband. I am a light weight
and am several meds. It is not good for diabetes or osteoporosis.

5) This song was such a big hit that, after its release, Brandy became a popular name for newborn girls. Do you know anyone named Brandy? No.

6) Barry Manilow scored a hit in 1974 with "Mandy." That song was initially called "Brandy," but it was changed to avoid confusion with this record. Do you have a favorite Barry Manilow song? I do love Many. I had a dog by that name. I also like Copacabana

7) In 1972, when this song was popular, residents of South Dakota endured a catastrophic flood when Rapid Creek overflowed. Give us a little geography lesson: what body of water is nearest you? Newport Beach on the Pacific Ocean. It is about 34 miles away. I have a spa and two birdbaths at home if you want the closest.

8) Also in 1972, the first women were permitted to run in the Boston marathon. Have you ever visited Boston? Yes in 2008 while on a New England Cruise.

9) Random summertime question: Would you prefer to swim in a pool, a lake/river, or the ocean? A pool, but I love to go to the beach. Any body of water is peaceful.

1. Here we are entering the last month of the year 2020. 2020!! Every year The Oxford English Dictionary publishing team chooses a word that captures the general mood of the year we're leaving behind, or the one word that will leave a lasting impact on the world at large. This year they needed sixteen words in order to cover the whole enchilada.

While two of the other major dictionaries selected pandemic as their word of the year, Oxford came up with a long list including-bushfire, impeachment, acquittal, coronavirus, COVID-19, lockdown, social distancing, reopening, Black Lives Matter, Cancel Culture, BIPOC, mail-in, belarusian, moonshot, net zero (read more about each word here)

Of the words listed which ONE would you say should be in the number 1 spot? Which word/phrase on this list would you be happy to never hear again? Covid 19

2. What one word from your own list of words describing this year sums up/best reflects your 2020? Tell us why. Social distancing and wear you mask.  I miss being around family and friends. I plan to go back to church now because everyone has to wear a mask and get a temperature check and then social distance with your small group. I have been watching online, but I miss worshiping with others.

3. Do you like peppermint? Peppermint mocha, a candy cane, peppermint bark, peppermint tea, York Peppermint Pattie, peppermint ice cream...of the peppermint treats listed, which one is your favorite? Will you bake anything featuring peppermint this holiday season?  I love peppermint but I can't eat it. It is on the top of the list for causing heartburn and GERD. I use to drink a lot of peppermint tea to settle my stomach. Good for the stomach, but not the esophagus. Peppermint relaxes the opening and the acid comes up.

4. Besides Christmas, what do you associate the color red with? How about the color green? Valentine's day, heart, blood. The blood of Jesus that He shed for me. Green grass and it remind me of my grandpa cutting grass. When I smell cut grass, I think of him.

5. Is your tree up? Real or artificial? Is your house decorated? Is your shopping done? Started? Wrapped? On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being Scrooge-like and 10 being Buddy the Elf, how's your Christmas spirit? My whole house is decorated except for my kitchen. We set the  7 foot pencil thin tree on Sunday. I will hang the ginger bread on it this week. I also put garland over the kitchen sink window and add gingerbread ornaments on it also. I have multiple trees in the house. The main tree is all Disney. Another pencil thin if the family room has Nativity ornaments and angels. Another tree will have cherished family ornaments. All the bedroom have trees also. Hubby keeps a Charlie brown tree in his office.

I am half way done with shopping. I have a few things coming in the mail.  My Christmas Spirit is good. I got day 1 of my Advent study done. I am taking a crafty class called the 12 days of crafts over 6 days.  I will give myself an 8  because I don't get enough sleep and I can't find a Christmas craft box that has my Washi-crafting tape.

6. Insert your own random thought here. In the beginning of the year, the Lord gave me the word peace. Little did I know how much that word was going to be so important for me. For the most part, I did good. I think I felt the most anxious the week before and after the election. I had to remember my word peace, and I had to trust that God is in control!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Do you think the pandemic has had any kind of positive impact on your mental health? Explain. This whole thing has opened up my eyes to a lot of things. Some make me sad, so much division and unrest in our country. So I don't watch as much tv. But for the most part, there have been positive things. Less time on the tv has given me more time to do other things. I miss my friends at church, but the messages online have been great and I don't have to stress about what to wear. Our state closed churches again so our church service has been moved outside. The first outside service was Sunday morning and it got to warm so next Sunday they will have it at 6:30 pm. I am keepig up with my Bible reading and our church is studying the end times. Everything is in God's hands. I have a choice to be positive or negative and I am trying to stay positive.

2. A hot mess, hot under the collar, in hot water, hot button, hot diggity dog!, hot shot, hot seat....choose one and tell us how it applies to your life currently.Hot diggity dog. First it remind me of Goofy from Disneyland and I miss Disneyland. Then it reminds me of my dog Minnie Mouse who is happy that we are mostly home with her. Finally, I just like the way it rolls off my tongue.
Click here to see a video.

3. Speaking of the hot seat, do you work well under pressure or do you actively avoid high pressure situations? When I worked, I had to deal with a lot of high pressure situations. Now that I am retired, I don't have as many situations to deal with. Most high pressure situations are short term. I had one long term thing to deal with a year ago and it was so stressful it made me sick. Prayer has helped a lot in these situations!

4. Hotdogs-yay or nay? If you said yay how do you like yours? Did you know July is National hotdog month? Hubby just got a new bbq and is using it on Saturday and hot dogs are on the menu. I like to eat Hebrew National 100% beef hot dogs cooked on the grill. I can eat them in a number of ways. In a bun with lots of mustard and pickle relish, in a tortilla with salsa, cut up and cooked with scrambled eggs. They are not a regular item because I have to watch how much red meat I eat. Also because lunch meats are high in salt and I have to limit that too

5. I read here a list of America's coolest Southern towns. They are Marfa Texas, Greenville South Carolina, Abindgon Virginia, Athens Georgia, Bentonville Arkansas, Florence Alabama, Oxford Mississippi, Abita Springs Louisiana, Wilmington North Carolina, Monroeville Alabama, McMinnville Tennessee, Natchez Mississippi. How many on the list have you seen in person? Which town on the list would you most like to see? I am in a crafty group and we are doing a virtual visit to Charleston, so I would say Greenville South Carolina.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We went to Church!

We went to church Sunday and it felt great! Our church is following the states laws on this. Only 100 allowed each service and everyone has to wear a mask. Greeters checked you in with a barcode received online. No bulletins passed out though they were mailed out. I print mine out each week. Seats are spread out six feet away from your primary group which included my son and daughter in love. There was also no passing of offering plates, but buckets were at the exit doors, I pay online. Only one song at the beginning and one at the end. This is because things have to be sprayed down between services. Additional hand washing units are set up and sanitizer is everywhere.

Though we could not see smiles, you could joy in the eyes. Is was weird not being able to hug each other but we all accepted it. The worship team were and pastor Jim did not wear mask of course as there is plenty of space on the stage. Pastor is doing an end times series and he gave us all the verses about the Rapture. The last worship song was Way Maker and I love that song.

After church we stopped at a small taco shop and it was not busy because it was still early. We ate outside and tables were spaced about 8 feet apart.

I am typing this with one hand. My right hand is really hurting and I think it is arthritis over a tendon problem from over use. My doctor will be doing a telephone appointment later today. I hope it feels better by Wednesday. We sign our Trust documents with a notary on Wednesday. Please keep me in prayer. Thank you!

Happy Monday

It has been really hot the past couple of days, in the high 90's. It should be nicer today. I plan to go out to the spa later and relax and get my vitamin D. Then I am thinking of coloring my hair. I have put it off, but I think I am ready to do it. Depends on how I feel.

I have been busy sewing mask, reading through the book of Deuteronomy and working on my Bible crafts. My niece that is a RN said she would take more.

I had a phone eye appointment today. It was a follow up from my phone consultation about the broken blood vessel in my eye. The blood has finally cleared up but I still have some minor pain. When this whole Covid thing has settled, I will see my eye doctor for my yearly appointment. I know I have dry esyes and cataracts. I have gained weight in the middle from overeating and I am sure my blood levels are not what they were from this time last year when I was not eating much because of an inflamed esophagus.

I outlined a picture in my journalng Bible with a Sharpie no bleed pen. It is from Joshua 4. Now I plan to watercolor it. I will share the picture when I am done. Meanwhile, here are a couple I have done in the past.
This is Mt Nebo, where Moses went and God showed him the Promise Land. Moses dies there.

Joshua is the new leader now ready to go into the Promise land.

Birthdays and Saturday9

Thursday we celebrated my daughter and my grandson's birthday. It was a success! My daughter let everyone know and so there was a series of cars going by at designated times to surprise him. His classmates and teachers drove by during the day. They got down to take pictures all about 8 feet apart.

My daughter got off work after lunch. Her office surprised her with a lunch catered by El Torrito. She brought lots of food when she came home. She gave us some and then took the rest back to her apartment. Then she came back and we all went to see Elijah. We all lined up and then went by honking when he was brought out. It was lots of fun!
After we went by again, we parked our car and Audrina and Elijah came walking over with a sign for Renee.
Minnie and her mama Rey were happy to see each other!

Renee gave Elijah his gift he put it on before we left.

We picked up the Chinese food from Renee's favorite place and headed home for dinner. Then we sang Happy Birthday to Renee. Jazmyn made the cake earlier in the day. Then they left since Renee took a vacation day.

I missed not being there for this but this is the picture his mama posted.

Today hubby and I had to go to the bank which had a long line now that the stimulus checks are coming in. Everyone we saw had mask on. The bank only allowed 2 people in a time and a security guard manned the door. Everyone was polite. Then we went to Lowe's to get some gardening stuff. We want to grow some veggies. Everyone had mask there. No one is complaining. Everyone is trying to do their part. We have about 165,000 people in our city and we have about 108 confirmed cases with 4 deaths. Our city gov. sent out a link that we can check daily. It has our city and the surrounding cities in and what is going on along with a breakdown of information. I like how we can stay informed. I try not to listen to the news anymore than necessary because of the politics.

We also dropped off two lunch packs at church that the young adults will be passing out to the homeless. I also completed the census. Tomorrow I plan to get caught up with my Bible reading, journaling/dex cards and face mask.

Oh, here is my modified quick answers to Saturday9.
1. I have to do some laundry but don't want to.
2. My Lifegroup was cancellled because if Covid 19 and conference to see Lysa Terkeurst. Church!

9. I complimented my grand daughter on the cake she made her mom and my grandson for helping his Ampa bbq chicken.

Happy Ressurention Sunday!

1 – What is something you are doing due to the pandemic that you normally don’t do? After the pandemic will you continue to so this? Wearing mask and sewing mask for my family. I made some for my daughter's work. My niece asked me to make her some more. She is RN and says more Covid 19 patients are coming in. I will make them as long as I have the materials to do so. I think I can make about 20 more. Also last night we had communion at home while watching the Good Friday Service online.
The white plate was my mom's, the pitcher my MIL and the shot glasses are from our last two vacations to Hawaii and Lake Tahoe. We grow Plumeria flowers and they go in these mini vases. This year we are having a small dinner because of the stay at home requirement. Normally we all go to my son's house for Easter because he has the biggest yard. We plan to all meet up on social network video. We plan to do this more after this pandemic is over.

2 - What made you happy, sad, or frustrated today? List, all big and/or small, as there may be some of one or all of these feelings!
Today we went to drop off Easter bags for our younger 2 grands. They were so happy to see us. They were happy to get there bags what included face mask I made them. Audrina's had bears on it and Elijah's had the Disney character Stitch. It was nice to stand out in the sun and enjoy our visit. It rained all week and today was beautiful. After we left, we stopped by our favorite Mexican fast food place and got a taco salad. When we got home I worked on some face masked and then set the table for Easter dinner. My daughter and our older two grands will come down around 4. They stay with us from Monday through Friday. So it was a happy day!
On Friday our church delivered eggs and baskets to the kids.

3- What is one of the first things you will do when the pandemic is over? I will Praise God!!! Then get together will all my kids and get/give lots of hugs!

4 – Are you an essential employee or do you know someone who is? Is this affecting you in some way? My husband and I are retired. But all three of our kids work. Andrew works for an electrical firm. He is in an office and does not see to many people. Daniel works for Ralph' Market and I worry about him. Ralph's is not allowing people in without mask now and all employees are now given masks and gloves. They have also installed plexiglass at the cash registers. He is getting about 52 hours a week and it tired. His wife is working too and their office is secluded. My daughter is also working. She is a medical assistant and works for an OB office. They only see pregnant women. They have to take everyone's temperature before going into the office. For a couple of weeks they were running short of mask because they had to turn in their good mask to the hospital. So she asked me to make her a mask.

5 – What are you doing to destress during this stressful time? Reading my Bible and working on several Bible journaling projects. We watched our grandkids during the week so they keep us busy and the time goes by faster when they are here.

6 – Have you tried any new recipes during this time? Please share your recipe if you want to. I haven't but my daughter made some really good turkey chili and carrot bread. My husband has been cooking more. The previous post shows what he made one day this week.

7 – Have you always lived where you do now? If not, how did you wind up in the place you currently live? We have lived in this house 4 1/2 years. We downsized after we retired. This house has a larger backyard and is a single story. It is closer to the stores we like to shop and the Kaiser Medical office we go to.

8- Where is the last place you visited on-line? My Farmville. I have been playing this virtual game for 10 years!

9- What is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you? My grandson called me the best Mema every! My aunt called me a Proverbs Woman. My dad called me his curly hair mija. Mija is short for mi hija which means my daughter.

10 – Tell me about the last photo on your camera (phone or real camera or both!)
I did this watercolor in my jourlnaling Bible a couple of years ago.

1. Has spring sprung in your part of the world? How can you tell? Did March come in like a lion where you live? Going out like a lamb or something more ferocious? It is a beautiful spring day to day, sunny and in the 70's. The grands will be going in the spa today. The birds are chirping away. Lawns are being mowed. The grass is really green from all the rain. It is a beautiful day!

2. The last thing that caused you to spring to your feet? When my grandson said my eye looked read. I had felt a pain in my eye earlier and so I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and the whole left of my eye is blood red. I called the advice nurse and they asked me tons of questions. Then she scheduled a phone appointment with a nurse practioner. She asked me a lot of questions too. She said there would be some pain because my eye from the area the vessel broke. She said if my vision got blurry, if my my eyes was bleeding tears or there was any other unusual symptoms, to call back. Today it is sensitive but I can see. It looks a little swollen and it doesn't help that I only slept for 4 hours.

3. Do you have a spring clean to-do list? What's one chore on the list you've already managed to accomplish? What spring clean chore do you most dread? I do have a list, but right now I am busy making face mask for my daughter's job. She works for an OB. They had to turn in their N90 mask to the hospital.I am also making them for my family.

4. Tell us something you've learned about yourself or the wider world as a result of social distancing/the virus crisis. I am reminded how much I miss not being able to see my younger grands, sons and wives. Our daughter is staying with us but she works all week. I miss my friend. It makes me more thankful for all the people we take for granted. I am pleased how the state has put us on "lockdown". I like how the schools are trying to keep the kids busy and my grands use a program called Zoom to chat with the teacher. I like how our pastor is sending us messages during the week through all the different media. We have had online services but not it has expanded. I think a lot of positive things have come out of this. I hope that more people will tune into the online church services as we repost them. I am focusing on the positives.

5. Something you love that's the color pink? My pink roses.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I am going to be dreaming of making mask. I made 8 today and I am so tired. Since I am making my own ties and it is very tedious. But it will last better than elastic. Some of the nurses are allergic to latex and the ears get sore from wearing them all day. I made my daughter a rainbow one.
