Thankful for another week of life

1 Thankful for a nice weekend. Hubby watched several movies on Saturday. We really enjoyed watching Ben Hur. It was 4 hours, and it was nice to put it on pause for breaks and food. Church was good and it is always a blessing when our granddaughter sings her solo leads or plays the keyboards in worship.
I know I may sound like a bragging, proud grandma, but she just reminds me of how faithful God is. When I was pregnant with her dad, I almost lost him and spent the whole pregnancy in bed after having had 3 miscarriages. I took care of her the first two years of her life while her parents worked. I rocked her in the same chair I rocked her dad and sang her the same songs I did to my kids and all my grands. So, she God's promise to me to have faith and trust in Him. Someday I will see my other 3 babies who are singing in Heaven now. I thank God for blessing me with 3 kids, 2 daughters in laws and 4 beautiful grandkids!
2. Thankful for physical therapy. My thumb is approving. I only have to go once a week, and I am waiting to see if I will get approved to go back for my back and shoulder. It is taking longer this time for approval. Not sure if it has to do with getting it approved through Medicare and our supplemental which is a Postal workers and Federal plan. Praying the craziness does not hurt us or others.
My hand is dipped in hot wax 3 times then wrapped in a bag.
Then my hand goes in a heated warmed towel.
After that, the therapist massages my thumb and then I do "exercises."
Finally, it goes in a compression chamber that also massages it.
3.Thankful for the taste of spring weather we have had this week. I was able to go outside and listen to my Bible Recap audio. I also got to pick a rose from our garden. I also saw a white dove that reminded my not to worry and I am trusting in God for all things.
4. Thankful for my women's lifegroup and our retired marriage lifegroup. Both days this week were a blessing!
5. Thankful to be going to a Christian concert in my town to hear Cece Winans. I heard her years ago at a Women of Faith Conference. I am so happy to be there with my granddaughter who sing on our worship team and sung one of Cece's songs, Goodness of God. Thankful I got tickets last year because the concert is sold out now.
Saturday 9: My Blue Heaven (1955)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The music for "My Blue Heaven" was written by Walter Donaldson. Mr. Donaldson was a gifted piano player who used his talent to entertain the troops on leave during WWI. What's something you're naturally good at? Being creative.
2) The lyrics were written by George Whiting. He began his career on stage as a song-and-dance man. While touring, he met and fell in love with another singer on the bill. They went on to marry and have three daughters. Have you ever engaged in a workplace romance? No. Well, I was dating my husband when we both worked there, but we did not meet there.
3) In this song, Doris Day sings about a cozy home. Look around the room you're in. What makes it cozy? Lots of family pictures, Bookcase with my Bibles and favorite books. I currently have a 4 foot rose gold slimline tree that is decorated with pink ornaments.
4) For four consecutive years, Doris was the most popular film actress in the world, with fans flocking to theaters to see her. Is there an actor or actress whose presence in a movie or TV show makes you say to yourself, "I want to see that?" Yes, I am sure there are. I love music, especially Christian music. Last year my granddaughter sang the Goodness of God and played the guitar at a recital. It is a song that has been sung by CeCe Wynans. So when we found out she was going to be at a concert in my city, we just had to go. I mentioned it to my daughter in law. The concert is today! My granddaughter and excited to her along with her mom and both grandmas.
5) For all her film and music success, she found herself broke in the late 1960s. Her husband had mismanaged her fortune, something she didn't discover until after his sudden death. Do you know how much is in your checking account right now? (We're not asking the amount; just whether you know.)
Yes, I just checked a couple of days ago and I get paid on the first.
6) Away from performing, Doris' passion was animal welfare. At one point she shared her home with more than a dozen dogs and went on to establish the Doris Day Animal Foundation. Do any pets share your home? Yes, we have a long haired, black and tan mini doxie named Minnie.
This picture was taken a couple of years ago after the confetti egg fun.
7) In 1955, when this song was a hit, cars came with AM radios but they were pretty unsophisticated by today's standards. The car needed to be on and "warmed up" a bit before the signal was picked up and that signal could easily be lost if you were bouncing over rough terrain. Today most new cars come with Bluetooth so you can enjoy infotainment through your phone. Do you listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks, etc., as you drive? Yes, we have Sirius XM in our car and I usually listen to the Message, a Christian station. But it also has channels for the 60's, 70's, 80's and Soul that hubby will listen to at times.
8) Also in 1955, the first McDonald's opened. Does your community have a McDonald's?
I think we have 4 of them but I don't really like to eat there.
9) Random question: How long have you known your newest friend? I have met several new friends these past couple of year at church. The newest one is Sue and I think I have known her for a year.
