Saturday 9 is below Friday Fave Five
1. Thankful that my doctor's appointment went well on Wednesday. My doctor tool the time to listen to my concerns. She was pleased with my weight gain, though we both agree that I should not gain anymore! We went over my eating habits, and I need to find a way to get more protein without eating so much meat. She wants me to continue physical therapy. She sent me to physical therapy. My x-rays same back on my knee and shows mild degeneration, but no break. I hit it 4 weeks ago and it still hurts when I walk in it. I still need to get blood drawn to check a lot of things! That can wait until next week!
2. Thankful for sunny, warmer weather! It was 63 today and I got to sit out in the sun and enjoy the birds singing. The grass is green from all the rain and so are the weeds!
3. Thankful to be able to watch Bible study online since I was not feeling well Tuesday and it was pouring outside. We are studying Daniel.
4. Thankful for all the resources there are online to help me prepare for my April Bible journaling group. We will be talking about the Good Shepherd, and sheep. I look for verses to use in a handout and guide for our Bible journaling packs.
5. Thankful that I can still color my hair and I my hair color was on sale at Sprouts!
1) In this week's song, BJ Thomas sings that he knows it won't be long until he finds happiness. What are you looking forward to today? What's going to make you smile? I plan to color my hair today. Not seeing the grey will make me smile.
2) BJ Thomas met his wife Gloria at a bar. She was there with his drummer, but BJ let his friend know he felt a connection to Gloria and was going to drive her home. BJ and Gloria were married for 50 years, until his death. Have you and a friend ever found yourselves attracted to the same person? If yes, how did you handle it?
When some new boys came to our youth group back in 1973, I let the girls know I was interested in the one with the cute smile. But several of the guys including the guy I liked, had their eyes on the cutest girl. Our group went on an outing to the Skating Ranch. When it was girl ask boy time, I went to "Smiley" Another guy asked Cheryl to skate. I asked Smiley what his family called him and he said Jr because they called his dad Smiley. After that, Jr came to my house. His friend came with him and was talking to my sister. And so we started dating. 18 months we were married!
3) This song is from Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, which has been called "the most entertaining Western ever made." Do you enjoy Westerns? I enjoy some. I do remember seeing this movie.
4) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is one of the most popular movies Paul Newman made, but he liked to say his "favorite role is philanthropist." He raised an amazing $500 million for children's charities through his Newman's Own brand. The most popular Newman's Own product is salad dressing. What flavor of salad dressing would we find in your kitchen right now? Balsamic, Ranch and Olive Garden Dressing.
5) Burt Bacharach won the first of his three Oscars for this song. Yet 20th Century Fox originally wanted to cut the song from the movie, maintaining that that song and the famous "bicycle sequence" between Paul Newman and Katharine Ross were anachronistic and made the movie too long. Burt and the movie's director George Roy Hill fought for it, insisting that it helped define the optimistic character of Butch. Tell us about a time you were glad you stood your ground. \
Probably discerning character in someone and not letting someone else influence me.
6) Edith Head also won an Oscar for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. She said that Robert Redford, who played Sundance, presented a wardrobe problem. His jawline is too strong, so she had to create special wider-brimmed hats to balance it. If you could magically change one of your physical features, which would you choose? And which feature would you never change?
I would change my rear and make it more muscular. I like my hair though it is grey now, it has body from the curl. It has also done better now that I am eating better.
7) In 1969, when this song was a hit, The Beatles played their last concert on the roof of Abbey Road Studios. When did you last climb onto the roof? Back at Christmas time 2014. I was putting Christmas decor outside the front window landing. We moved to a single story after that.
8) Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries sold at a brisk pace at Christmastime 1969. They're still popular today. Were you a fan? I read the Trixie Belden Mysteries.
9) Random question: Do you consider yourself old fashioned?
My kids think I am, and I agree to some extent. I believe in traditional values. I like comfortable/traditional furnishing and the kids like contemporary. They are in their 20-40's and I am a few years from 70!
