1. Last time you moved house? Something you've learned in moving house? We moved here in 2015. Try to get rid of as much as you can before the move! I still have boxes packed in the garage. Mostly books and lots of decorations.

2. Move mountains, move along, make a wrong move, moved to tears, get a move on, move up, move over, move out of the way, move the deck chairs on the Titanic, move it!...pick one and tell us how it fits your recent circumstances.Get a move on. I need to start walking!

3. What have you been doing to make yourself move (aka stay fit-active) during these strange times? Going back and forth to the garage or kitchen.

4. This week's calendar includes celebrations for the following foods-
National Coffee Milkshake Day (Sunday), National Creme Brûlée Day (Monday), National Milk Chocolate Day (Tuesday), National Chicken Wing Day (Wednesday), National Lasagna Day (Wednesday), National Cheesecake Day (Thursday), and National Avocado Day (Friday)
Which one on the list would you be most inclined to celebrate? Which would you be most inclined to skip? I love Creme Brulee and that would be my first choice. Cheesecake would be 2nd. I would have to skip the Lasagna because of my heartburn problems.

5. Next week's Hodgepodge lands in August! I know!! Raise your hand if you feel like July flew by in the blink of an eye? Now bid farewell to your July acrostic style. If you don't know what that means click here.

1. What kind of restaurants do you enjoy most and why? Do you have a favorite? I like Mexican food the most. There is a place close to us called Tamazulas and we love all their soups. They make them just like my grandma use to. Hubby and I also like to eat at Chili's because of the chips and salsa. They have a pretty good selection of food. Rubios has good healthy salads. There is also a Mexican food place we like to visit in Old Town Orange called Rancho Avilas. The place once was a church and they have really good salsa and chips. They make a really good flan too.

2. Do you have a favorite cartoon from film, news or comic book? ,b.Peanuts is my favorite all time comic. I also love the cartoon called Love Is....,/b.

3. Do you belong to any clubs or societies or organizations? Can you tell us about it? Don't belong to anything.

4. The internet is filled with ads. Are there any ads that you enjoy seeing or hate to see? Can't think of any right now.

Saturday 9

Saturday 9: The Love Boat (1977) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here. 1) The Love Boat ran from 1977 to 1987. It was in the Top 10 for seven of those 10 seasons. Are you familiar with the show? Were you a fan? Yes I use to watch the show and enjoyed it.

2) Every week, viewers followed The Pacific Princess as she set sail to a glamorous destination. Have you ever taken a cruise? If so, where did you go? Yes I have taken 3 cruises. A 3 day cruise to Ensenada, Baja Ca. in 2003. In 2006 my husband and I took a week long trip to Alaska. It was wonderful and you can read about it here.
In 2008 I took a New England Cruise with my parents and sister. You can read about it here.

3) Gavin MacLeod played Captain Steubing. Born Allan See, he came up with the stage name by combining the first name of a fictional character he admired, and the last name of a teacher who influenced him. Using his formula, give yourself a stage name. For example, Sam would be Hermione Hart (Hermione from Harry Potter; Hart for her Kindergarten teacher).Scarlett Haffner.

4) After the series ended, Fred Grandy (aka "Gopher") went on to become a Congressman from Iowa and then CEO of Goodwill Industries. If you had a bag of gently-used items to donate, where would you take them? The Salvation Army.

5) Ted Lange is best known for his role as the ship's bartender, Isaac. But he began his career performing the classics, and appeared at Colorado Shakespearean Festival and London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Let's class up this joint. Give us a little Shakespeare. Parting is such sweet sorrow. - Romeo and Juliet

6) Bernie Kopell played the ship's doctor, Adam Bricker. Kopell first appeared on TV in 1961 and was a regular on Get Smart and That Girl, and he's still acting today. But Love Boat was, by far, his favorite role. Working on the show was "absolute heaven" because he was paid to travel the world and meet his acting idols, like Oscar winners Greer Garson, Joan Fontaine and Eva Marie Saint, who appeared on the show. When you think of the best job you have ever had, what made it so good: the pay, the location, the people you met, or the work itself?

I loved my first job working at Toy City for one summer and Christmas season. I was 14 and still a kid at heart. I worked for the Postal Service for 36 years. I would say that the pay was good as were most of the people I worked with. One man I worked with was retired military. He told me back in the 70's that according to the Bible, the US would be taken down bu China and Russia. I remember that conversation vividly was we were both sorting international mail and talking about the Bible. In 1986 I got hurt and got moved to the Marketing department because of my computer experience. My supervisor, a woman talked to me about my faith and basically she rekindled my Christian walk.

7) Lauren Tewes played Cruise Director Julie McCoy. Today she lives in Seattle, appearing in local theater and -- between acting assignments -- working as a chef for a catering service. Have you hosted dinner for more than 8 people? If yes, do you remember what you served?
I oversaw many women's tea's at my church. I have also hosted family gatherings and showers. I had my Women's fellowship ladies over for lunch. I made Chicken salad sandwiches on croissants, green salad, fresh cut veggies with dip and fresh fruit. The dinner I had I set up a tostada bar for my son's rehersal dinner which we had in our backyard. We had 3 meat choices, ground beef, shredded pork and cubed chicken. We also had beans, rice, salad and a variety of salsa's. Hubby fried all the tostada shells in the morning. We also had small flour and corn tortillas for those who wanted soft tacos. We also had chopped cilantro, tomatoes, onion and olives for garnishes.

8) For the first nine seasons, the theme was sung by Jack Jones. The Grammy-winning singer says one of his career highlights playing Sky Masterson onstage in Guys and Dolls. In his late 50s at the time, had had to go outside his comfort zone, dancing and acting as well as singing before a live audience. Tell us about something new you tried recently.
I have learned some new crafting techniques this week while at one of my craft events where you take an empty bulletin board and create things to decorate it. I also experienced my first Zoom meetings this week.

9) Random question -- Which would you rather receive as a gift: one $500 wristwatch, or five $100 wristwatches? Depends on the watch. If it was an Apple wrist watch, I would for that. Otherwise, I would take the five $100 dollar wristwatches.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Do you think the pandemic has had any kind of positive impact on your mental health? Explain. This whole thing has opened up my eyes to a lot of things. Some make me sad, so much division and unrest in our country. So I don't watch as much tv. But for the most part, there have been positive things. Less time on the tv has given me more time to do other things. I miss my friends at church, but the messages online have been great and I don't have to stress about what to wear. Our state closed churches again so our church service has been moved outside. The first outside service was Sunday morning and it got to warm so next Sunday they will have it at 6:30 pm. I am keepig up with my Bible reading and our church is studying the end times. Everything is in God's hands. I have a choice to be positive or negative and I am trying to stay positive.

2. A hot mess, hot under the collar, in hot water, hot button, hot diggity dog!, hot shot, hot seat....choose one and tell us how it applies to your life currently.Hot diggity dog. First it remind me of Goofy from Disneyland and I miss Disneyland. Then it reminds me of my dog Minnie Mouse who is happy that we are mostly home with her. Finally, I just like the way it rolls off my tongue.
Click here to see a video.

3. Speaking of the hot seat, do you work well under pressure or do you actively avoid high pressure situations? When I worked, I had to deal with a lot of high pressure situations. Now that I am retired, I don't have as many situations to deal with. Most high pressure situations are short term. I had one long term thing to deal with a year ago and it was so stressful it made me sick. Prayer has helped a lot in these situations!

4. Hotdogs-yay or nay? If you said yay how do you like yours? Did you know July is National hotdog month? Hubby just got a new bbq and is using it on Saturday and hot dogs are on the menu. I like to eat Hebrew National 100% beef hot dogs cooked on the grill. I can eat them in a number of ways. In a bun with lots of mustard and pickle relish, in a tortilla with salsa, cut up and cooked with scrambled eggs. They are not a regular item because I have to watch how much red meat I eat. Also because lunch meats are high in salt and I have to limit that too

5. I read here a list of America's coolest Southern towns. They are Marfa Texas, Greenville South Carolina, Abindgon Virginia, Athens Georgia, Bentonville Arkansas, Florence Alabama, Oxford Mississippi, Abita Springs Louisiana, Wilmington North Carolina, Monroeville Alabama, McMinnville Tennessee, Natchez Mississippi. How many on the list have you seen in person? Which town on the list would you most like to see? I am in a crafty group and we are doing a virtual visit to Charleston, so I would say Greenville South Carolina.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Tuesday 4 is hosted in memory of Toni Taddeo who started it a few years ago and I hope you will join in with us each week. It is a great way to visit new bloggers, make friends and discover new and interesting things about your friends.

The topic for this week's Tuesday 4 meme is Music..

1. Do you play a musical instrument? I can play the piano. My grandparents bought me one when I was 8. Now my 10 year old grand daughter plays it.

2. Have you taken music lessons? What kind. If not, is there one you might enjoy learning. It is never too late to start. I took lessons for years but the fear of performing kept me from enjoying it. I gave my piano to my son. My husband inherited his mom's baby grand. My grandson watches videos on his Kindle and plays very well.

3. Is there music in your home as background to your day's activities or do you have music playing in your car, etc.? If so, what kind of music do you enjoy hearing?I listen to Pandora most of the day. I have various stations. I mostly listen to Christian music. I have stations that play music like Amy Grant, Hillsong, Mandisa and Chris Tomlin. I have a station that plays Broadway Musicals. I have a Disney Station that I will put on when the grands are playing with Legos. I have another one that plays old school Motown. I have another station that plays Carole King, Carpenters, Chicago and music from the 70's.

4. Do you have a favorite composer or genre of music that you like most? Maybe you like several. Please share with us your thoughts? I think I covered that in the previous list. I do like musicals. I also have a station that plays the music of John Williams and another called The Swan Lake Station.

Saturday 9

Saturday 9: Flipper (1964) 1) Flipper ran for three seasons, from 1964 to 1967. Are you familiar with the show? Were you a fan? Yes I watched Flipper with my family.

2) Brothers Sandy and Bud consider a bottle-nosed dolphin, named Flipper, their pet. Do you currently share your home with any animals?Yes we have a long haired mini doxie named Minnie Mouse.

3) Bud and Sandy's dad was Chief Warden Porter Ricks of the fictional Coral Key Marine Preserve. In reality, the show was filmed in Miami and Key Biscayne. When were you last in the ocean? Which ocean was it? May 15, 2020, Newport Beach California. We are planning on going next week.
We saw some dolphins that day at the beach.

4) There was no one single "Flipper." In close-ups, the role was played by a dolphin named Susie. While Susie was good at interacting with people, she had trouble with stunts, and sometimes a male dolphin named Clown was brought in for action sequences. Do you consider yourself more social, like Susie? Or are you more athletic, like Clown? I would say I am more social. I was going to the gym before Covid happened.

5) Without looking it up, do you know the difference between a dolphin and a porpoise? I think it has to do with it's nose shape.
Dana Wharf Whale Watching, August 11, 2014
Sea Life Park, Oahu HA 2018

6) Flipper wasn't just a TV pet. He was an industry! During the show's run, Flipper comic books, coloring books and puzzles were very popular. As an adult, do you entertain yourself by reading comics, coloring, or completing jigsaw puzzles? I like to Bible journal. I have shared that here before. I also like to do other crafty things.

7) The Flipper lunchbox was also a big seller. It came with a Thermos topped with a red cup. Do you own a Thermos? Yes I own a red plaid thermos I use in the winter.

8) In 1964, when Flipper premiered, it was up against The Outer Limits and The Jackie Gleason Show. If those were your only viewing choices, would you watch the family show about the dolphin, the sci-fi anthology show, or the comedy-variety show? (Or would you rather flip through a magazine?) Our family watched Flipper. I also liked to watch the Outer Limits. I think it was on Saturday nights.

9) Random question -- Which would you be more comfortable explaining: how a car engine works, the current IRS tax brackets, or the rules of baseball? The rules of baseball.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The sweetness of summer...where have you found it recently? If you're in the Southern hemisphere, feel free to tell us about the sweetness you're finding in winter. I have found it in my own backyard. I like to sit on the swing and read my Bible and watch the birds in the bird bath. I like to do a little gardening and mostly I love to soak in the spa. I like to watch my grands have fun too and I will be taking them to my neighbor's house to go swimming. Hopefully next week we will go to the beach.

2. Take your sweet time, sweet tooth, home sweet home, short but sweet, the sweet smell of success, sweet talk...choose a sweet idiom and tell us how it fits your life currently? I would have to say home sweet home. I am thankful that I have a comfy home. We really can't go and do a lot, but we have everything we need.

3. Sweet as honey, sweet as sugar, or sweet as pie, which phrase do you use when a sweet phrase is called for? What's the last sweet treat you indulged in? Sweet as honey because I love honey. The last sweet thing I had was mango chunks, apples and peanut butter.

4. First thing that comes to mind when you hear the word fidget? Can't stay still.

5. Share with us one of your favorite childhood travel memories. It would be the time we went to Yosemite. Our parents made a big bed in the back of the car and left around 4am. It was about a seven hour drive to get there. I remember being in the river eating a See's sucker. We would dip the candy in the water and then put it in our mouth. I can still here the water moving and seeing the rocks sparkle as the sun hit the water. I remember sitting on the banks of the river and looking at the trees and hearing the wind as it passed through the trees. I wish I had some pictures from then. We were there in the fall of 2019.

6. Insert your own random thought here. As I write this I have all 4 of my grands here. The girls are in a tent in the family room and the boys have a tent in the bedroom. We got to finish the rest of the newer Parents trap while we enjoyed fruit and popcorn. Each room has a fake pine tree with white lights on. Hopefully we can go camping next year.

Cozy moments
1. How would you describe a perfect evening at home? Watching a movie with my family and enjoying popcorn or fruit.

2. Have you had a perfect evening lately? How did it go ? Yes last night we watched The Parent Trap and enjoyed popcorn.

3. Do you watch TV every night or have a set time to view TV?Normally I do watch certain regular series 8-11pm. But most of my regular shows are out right now.

What programs do you watch or do you listen to music? Right now I am listening to music more and crafting and reading my Bible.

4. Are cozy evenings different in Fall/Winter than in Spring/Summer? In fall/winter we bring out blankets to cozy up with. We enjoy warm drink and sometimes we put the fireplace on. In the warm weather we have fans on and cool drinks.

1) 77 Sunset Strip was one of TV's early hits, running for six seasons. Before this morning, were you familiar with this show? Yes my dad watched this show. I would sneak into the family room and hide under my dad's desk. I like the theme song and it makes me think of my dad. He gave me that desk when I got married and I was going to college. My husband uses it now. I use my dad's bigger desk he owned when he and mom ran there own real estate business.

2) The show's jazzy theme is punctuated by finger snaps. When you snap your fingers, is the left-handed snap as loud as your right-handed snap? The left hand is louder though I am right handed. Maybe because I have some arthritis in my right hand.

3) The show revolved around Bailey and Spencer Investigations. Stu Bailey and Jeff Spencer were among TV first "private eyes." Who is your all-time favorite TV PI? Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999-present)

4) Their office had "a fancy label," meaning an attractive address, on Los Angeles' Sunset Blvd. Tell us about the prestige area of your neighborhood. Nothing prestige around here.

5) Next door was Dino's Lodge, the real-life restaurant and bar owned by entertainer Dean Martin. Are you a Dean Martin fan? I liked to watch him with Jerry Lewis.

6) The valet at Dino's was Kookie. He was known for his perfect hair, his slang ("ginchy" meant cool, "germsville" was the hospital, "a dark seven" was a bad week) and his desire to someday be a private investigator, like Stu and Jeff. Do you think you'd be a good detective? No

7) Stu and Jeff had a loyal secretary named Suzanne, played by French actress Jacqueline Beer. In real life, she was married to adventurer Thor Heyerdahl, who famously traveled from Peru to French Polynesia by raft. Does 100 days on a raft, sailing the south seas, sound fascinating to you?Are they Covid free? If so yes!

8) Clint Eastwood was fan of the show and, in the 1990s, tried unsuccessfully to bring 77 Sunset Strip back. Is there a show from the past you'd like to see "rebooted?" I was sad when Hawaii Five 0 ended this year. I would love for them to come back!

9) Random question: Thinking about the last week, did you nag anyone? Or were you the one who was nagged?Yes I nagged my grandson to make his bed.
