1. Do you like the way your home is decorated or would you tweak things a bit if budget allowed? It is comfortable.
I do miss my last home which was 1000 square feet bigger. But we downsized when we retired. If I had the money
I would have the kitchen cabinets painted, put in new lights and backsplash. Both the bathrooms had been remodeled. I would change out
the plain tub and get a soaking tub. I would get a better air conditioning system. I would install a ceiling fan in the family
room, along with a light over the fireplace. I would get new flooring, a hard wood looking tile in a light color. I would build a gazebo over the
spa and over the other open patio area.
2.. Do you have any plans/dreams to change anything about your home? I plan to get the cabinets painted white. Since we bought this house, we have added a fireplace mantel, a front patio area, a spa in the backyard, carpet and paint. We could do more, but we would rather save and take vacations with the family.
3. What style of furniture do you have or want to have in your home and why? The master bedroom has antique pieces.
The family room is contemporary. I would love to get new couches. We had a formal living rooms and family room at our last house.
Now we one room. I brought my china buffet and grandfather clock from our other home. I left the formal dining room table and kept our a big kitchen table
that is great for everything. I inherited furniture from my parents and there are pieces in the other rooms. My husband also inherited a baby grand piano that is in the family room. Everything is functional and cozy.
4. Tell us about your ideal dream house or dream kitchen if you prefer. When we were first married we rented a little Craftsmen style home. I loved the big sunny kitchen that had a breakfast nook. There was even a laundry room off the kitchen. It had a nice dining area with french doors that led to a side porch. It also had a build in buffet. The front room had lots of windows and a fireplace with built in bookcases. It was a little 2 bedroom and we were so cozy there. In light of what is going on, I am thankful for what I have.

1. If there's a personal god, what quality would you most like that person to have (and why)? There is a GOD and He posses many qualities. Love, grace and mercy are the ones that mean the most to me.
2. What's your death-row meal? Ground beef and potato tacos the way I learned from my mom.
3. Assuming we make it through this outbreak with minimal loss of life, what do you think our big takeaway should be? To be prepared. Our government should allocate the money needed to fight this from many directions. People who study viruses and other professionals should work together and then tell the government what needs to be done. Many thing should be made here and not in another country. Medical equipment needs to be made year round and then stored so that it is available. I have been making face mask for my daughter and her office. They had to turn in their good mask to the hospital and are limited with the ones they have.
I made my daughter one that has 3 layers. I had to make ties because there is no elastic. Once she wore it at work, her doctors and nurses have asked for one. I heard that 45 doctors have died in Italy. We don't need to spend billion of dollars for walls and space programs if we can't even keep a virus from spreading globally without the means to battle it.
4. Whom do you find yourself missing more than you would've predicted? Before this virus thing, my parents. Now I miss seeing my kids and grand kids the most. I miss my friends.
5. What brings you the most joy? Not happiness, not contentment -- JOY.Joy for me is having a personal relationship with the Lord. Joy is knowing that all my family believes in Jesus and know matter what happens on Earth, we will all be together forever in Heaven. My family is my joy. When I am with them, both my immediate and siblings and family, I am joyful!
6. Do you find yourself regretting anything you've said or done on social media? No. I was taught if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all.
7. What are your favorite and least favorite things about your body and face?I like the smooth skin texture of my face which is pretty good for my age. But since I lost weight, my skin is sagging. But overall okay with it. My tummy is my least favorite.
8. and your life? My most favorite is my family which includes my dog. My least favorite is having osteoporosis because I can't do the things I want to do.
9. How's the self-isolation affecting your libido? I am doing fine but that is too personal a question.
10. Which three places in the physical universe would you most like to visit? I am fine here on Earth and our next trip is going to be in Maui. I wanted to go to New York and DC with hubby but now I don't think so. I would like to go to Yellowstone with my family. If I could afford it I would like to go to the Holy Land.
11. On whom did you have a crush years ago? Have you ever told them? I have been married for 45 years and hubby was the last crush so yes he knows.
12. How have your religious views changed since you were in high school? Yes they are stronger and I understand so much more know. Less legalistic. I have more grace than I did probably because of the grace I have received.
13. If you could change one law, what would it be?No high power assault weapons allowed for most people. I do believe in having regular firearms.
14. If you could add one commandment to the original ten, what would it be? I would not change it because God wrote it.

1. Howdy Hodgepodgers. It's kind of fun to be back, isn't it? Last time we met was September, 2018. Tell me something big-important-happy-or sad that's happened in your life since that date. Just one thing. We don't know how long this current isolation situation is going to last and we might need to dole out our news bit by bit.I started Bible jouranling with my grandkids.
2. Might as well get this out of the way early on...COVID-19. On a scale of 1-5 how serious are you about keeping your distance? Explain. fyi-I didn't create the scale but have seen it several places online. Also fyi-we won't only have virus related questions each week, but for this first one it feels right.
1-Not at all, living normally
2-Cautious but still going out
3-Going out as needed, mostly home or working from home, still seeing friends/family
4-Extremely limited, only going out when unavoidable, minimal contact with people
5-Full lockdown, no one in or out
3. Raise your hand if you think you might run out of steam in the cooking department before it's all said and done? What's something delicious you've cooked or eaten in your own kitchen in the past week?I am blessed because my hubby likes to cook. We are actually making things we don't normally make. We had meatloaf on Monday, chicken tacos and tostadas on Tuesday and tonight we are having baked turkey breast, sweet potatoes, corn and salad.
4. What's a television show or movie you've seen recently (it could be an oldie) that you really liked? There are lots of shows I like to see and hubby has his long list. Here is what we like to watch together. The Good Doctor, Survivor, Hawaii Five O and Blue Bloods.
5. Share something funny you've seen or heard this week.
6. Insert your own random thought here. This is both funny and sad at the same time.

1. Who inspires you and why? There are a lot of people that inspire me. I have a few friends that do. But as I am older, I realize that the my parents
still do even though they are not here anymore.
2. Convince us to read one of your favorite books. Besides the Bible I would say the AD Chronicles by Bodie & Brock Thoene (pronounced Tay-nee). They have written over 65 historical fiction novels. Each book takes a character that could have met Jesus. Here is the description from the first book I got at Christianbook.com. "Go back in time to first century Jerusalem. It's a dark time in the world's holiest and most turbulent city. Walk with Peniel, the blind beggar who longs for rescue from his suffering. Peek into the lives of Susannah and Manaen, two lovers separated by overwhelming odds. And meet an unusual healer, who ignites a spark of controversy in the fire of hatred, deceit, and betrayal that is always burning in this ancient city. This first book is in the A.D. Chronicles series will bring you face to face with the man called Yeshua."
Since my grandson needs to read each day, I brought out my set for him to read. I have read Gone With The Wind 7 times! So that would be another great to read.
3. What meal does your family just love and will you share the recipe? I would say tacos. You can find the Recipes here. We did have meatloaf and red mashed potatoes yesterday and it was a hit!
4. In Brambly Hedge they make Rose Petal Jam. What kind do you like and why?I rarely use jam or jelly. But I do like Besides the good taste, it reminds me of the time my family would eat at the Knott's Berry Farm Chicken House. They serve baskets of biscuits and we spread the jam and it is so good!

Social Distancing
I think this sign is cute. Today I am sad because my son will not be bringing our grandkids to visit. He works outside the home and so does my daughter. She works for an OB. So they both decided that this would be better for now. At least we can Facetime, but I will miss their hugs. They were here last Monday and I gave them each a long hug because I had a feeling I might not see them again for awhile. I read that churches will be closed now until April 30th. I have never missed an Easter service in church all my life and I am almost 65 and have gone to church since I was a baby. And now I won't be able to celebrate with my whole family. I guess we will have to do a Facetime Egg hunt. My older two grands stay with us.
Some of the things posted on Facebook are funny. Lots of get to know you things are being posted too. People are drying to deal with our situation as best as they can. In one of my Bible groups we were talking about what we can do to cheer others up through this. Some of the ladies are making encouragement cards that will go to women that are widows. There is another group that are going to make face mask to donate to places that need them like hospitals or nursing homes. I have looked at several videos to find the best directions. I looked through my craft stash in the garage and found lots of material. I have some elastic tape but need more. I ordered some on line from Joann's and I just have to pick it up.
I am in another group called Journey Through the Bible. We are reading the Bible in a year. Each day we read a few chapters and answer questions on the chapters. We do some word studies and listen to the teacher go over each week. I have read the Bible 3 times before, and it is exciting to see new things that I have missed before. Our group also has "day trips". One of the ladies had us print some graphics that were handed out. Then showed us how to water color and then use the graphics. She read a devotion that included scripture verses. Here are my cards.

1) Beethoven is one of classical music's best known composers. Do you often listen to classical music? Not often, but I do enjoy it.
One of my favorites is The Moonlight Sonata. My grandson is learning it on the piano. I took piano lessons for several years and I enjoyed classical music. My piano teacher took me and a few other students to Los Angeles when I was a child to hear an orchestra perform. It was fascinating.
2) Though a musical genius, Beethoven never learned to multiply or divide. When faced with a simple arithmetic problem, do you do it in your head? Or do you rely on the calculator in your phone or on your computer? It depends on the problem. The last time I had to do a problem, I got a paper and pencil out even though my cell phone was right there.
3) Beethoven bathed often, which was considered "quirky" for a man of his time. (Understandable, since you had the heat the water, haul it to the tub, and then empty the tub bucket by bucket when you were done.) Do you bathe in the morning or in the evening?Usually in the morning. Depend on the season. I will shower before bed when the weather is hot.
4) Adam Fischer conducts the Danish Chamber Orchestra for this 5-disc set. He began his musical career young, when he sang in the children's choir of Budapest's National Opera House. Have you ever sung in a choir or chorus? I sang in the church choir when I was a kid. I sand in Jr. High. I loved it but I had to give it up the 2nd year because I had to take a science instead. I love to sing at church or at home when I listen to the radio.
5) Mr. Fischer was awarded the Gold Medal of Arts from the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Tell us about a prize or award you have received. (Yes, that ribbon you earned for penmanship in second grade counts.) I won a few awards in school and I think I have a scrap book somewhere in the garage. I think the one that got the most laughs was the Betty Crocker Award I got in my Senior Year of High School. I even made the school paper. I got a certificate and a Betty Crocker Cookbook. It was funny because I was not big into cooking. I could cook because my mom taught me and I took cooking at school. This test was given to all the girls that were in Home Economics Senior class. They took a picture of me when I was sitting at my sewing machine. The Test covered several areas involving the management of a home.
6) The Danish Chamber Orchestra is beloved in Demark. When, in 2014, the Danish Broadcasting Company announced it would no longer fund the Orchestra, citizens began a crowdfunding campaign and raised more than $1,000,000 to keep the music playing. Have you ever contributed to a crowdfunding platform, like GoFundMe, Kickstarter or FundRazr? I have given to GoFundMe account.
7) The Orchestra's "home" is the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen. Where were you when you last heard music played live? My sibling and I went to a outside concert at the Orange County Fair. We heard Micahel McDonald of the Doobie Brothers and Chaka Khan perform. It was a fun night!
8) In 2019, when this boxed set was released, China became the first nation to land a spacecraft on the far side of the moon. Are you fascinated by stories about space? I enjoy reading about the current space news
9) Random question: Tell us about your week. These are extraordinary times, and it might feel good to share. We have 4 grand children and they were all hear Monday and Tuesday. I hope to see them this weekend. The older two grands stay with us because our daughter is working. She works for an OB office that is across St Joseph's Hospital in Orange. It rained most of the week so we let the kids go out in between the rain storms. We did not get much rain in January and February so we need the rain. It has been cold too. I had not been out in a week, but I went to bank and post office. I took my alcohol wipes with me and used those to touch things when I had to. I bought 2 stamp booklets because I am mailing craft packs to a few women that were suppose to come and craft at my house. Now I will mail a few packs out to those who are not to close to me. I am really lucky that my hubby likes to cook and he made chicken soup again with again since it is still cold. He used the whole chicken bones and added veggies so it is healthy! This week my grand daughter and I made hand sanitizer this week.
I have a lot to do to keep myself busy in between overseeing the grands do their homework. My daughter leaves a list of what they are to do. I am doing more housework, which is good because I can't go to the gym or go shopping. Luckily I have two extra bedrooms and my grandson gets one room and my grand daughter gets the other. My grandson built a tent in his room. I found some tule in the garage and my grand daughter hung it over the bed to make a princess bed. I feel bad for them. My grand daughter was suppose to go to her Father Daughter dance on Friday but it is canceled. The kids won't go back to school until the end of April but rumor has it that they will not go back until the new school year in August. My grandson will not get his 6th grade graduation. He misses his basketball team buddies. Life has changed but so far they are adapting. They are getting free lunches from the nearby school.
We have all the supplies we need for now. We are watching church services online. My life group has a private message group to keep in touch. We are adjusting and praying that no one gets sick. My grand daughter and I made home made hand sanitizer this week and next week we will make spray. So many people have are out of work now like my daughter in law. All my kids are working. My eldest son works for an Electrical Contracting firm and they are considered essential work. My second son works for Ralph's Market and he had 52 hours in last week. I pray that they all stay healthy. I did get to visit my friend that lives down the street from me. We stood a few feet from each other and caught up with our new way of life for now. God willing, we will get through this. I just need to stick to my Bible journaling, studies and crafts. We filled up several small bottles not seen in this pictures.

Tuesday 4 is on the lower end of this post.
Finally relaxing after a busy but good day! All 4 grands were here overnight through today. We had a relaxing breakfast and then some outside time.
It was actually partially sunny so we walked to the local grade school so the kids could pick up the free lunches that were bring passed out. Nice to know they will be doing this for all school kids.
Look at all the things they got!
Then we did some Bible jouranling.
Psalm 31:14 I will trust in God!
Then we watched Joseph, Prince of Dreams. It was made after Moses, The Prince of Egypt. After the movie we did some more journaling.
School was suppose to be out until April 6 and now it has been extended to the end of April. My daughter in law works at the school that my grands go to. Then the restaurant she works at shut down too! My daughter works for an OB so she has lots of work since a few people are on leave. My older son's job is fine. My younger son works for Ralph's Market and he says it is crazy! He worked 52 hours last week and sayd it is so hard when they are out of so many things. I feel bad for him. He and his wife finally decided to start their family and I think they are having second thoughts. Well it is in God's hands.
1. Ever been to a Drive In Theater? Would you like to see Drive In Theaters make a come back? Yes we use to go as children. I also went with my boyfriend, later husband. There is one drive in about 30 minutes away from me.
2. Should towns provide community entertainment like bands in the park, fireworks on the 4th, community picnics or is the cost just too much? Our town does have special events throughout the year. We have a big 4th of July parade during the morning and later a huge 4th of July fireworks show in the evening. During the summer they have tribute bands at the Civic Center on the grass with vendors. There is a fall event and a Christmas winter event also at the Civic Center.
3. What would you change about your town if you had the power? I would like to see some of the old shopping centers revamped. I would like the city to provide homeless shelters so that the homeless don't have to stay at the big city park. I know there is talk about it. Of course the city is on lockdown. Schools, churches, movies, fitness and inside dining is closed. On the bright side, free lunches are free at most of the elementary school. Hubby drove in, they handed him a lunches for our two grands. Tonight we have 4 sleeping over so we will get 4 lunches next time.
4. My little high school offered 3 courses of education: Business, University track and General education where you could also major in shop , carpentry, home economics and metal working, etc. Would you like to see schools bring back business courses, shop classes and home economics? That is what we had back in my day. In Jr High all girls had to take a semester of sewing and a semester of cooking. I sure wish they had that again as a part of the required courses. They are all electives and open to boys and girls. I do agree that they should prepare kids for the future.
I remember taking typing one summer but I didn't really learn to type. It was some thing I wish I would really have learned well. I had so many papers to type in college and I either paid to have them typed or I had to had print them. I went to college and got a degree in Social Ecology from UC Irvine. I worked for the Department of Social Services my senior year and I was always so sad for the people on my case load. I was also working part time for the US Postal Service throwing business size mail. It paid well and had good benefits.
After I graduated, I stayed at the post office. I hurt my back after a couple of years. Then a few years later I got hurt again and end doing a sit down job working on damaged mail. During that time I took a basic computer course at the local college. I got my first computer soon after that. One day, in 1088 while working damaged mail, I was asked if I had computer skills because they needed help in the Marketing Department with data entry. I got more training with the computer programs and worked along the Retail Specialist. I loved creating spreadsheets and learned so many things about using graphics.
When I was young I figured I would have a job with a secretary, but life happened. Around 1990, I discovered the country graphics website community and started my website. I end up being the Vending Coordinator for our district. It was a lot of work and I had to do presentations and talk to Postmasters and work with headquarters in DC with the new automated self service machines. I had to close out the old Stamp Vending Machine program by 2010 and retired in 2011.
So glad that all my grand are working on laptops at school and at home. Some of their homework is online. Now that the kids are off because of Covid 19, they have to do their work at while they stay with us.

1) This week's song is widely considered a traditional Irish ballad. Are you of Irish descent? I doubt it.
2) It's a song from a groom to his homesick bride. Who did you most recently serenade? (Yes, "Happy Birthday" counts.) Singing praise to God.
3) Kathleen considers "home" her mother's cottage. How about you? Is "home" where you live now, or is it where you grew up? Home is with my family.
4) St. Patrick is credited with driving snakes out of Ireland, and to this day the Irish report there are no snakes on their land. Ophiophobia is the fear of snakes. Do you suffer from ophiophobia? Yes!
5) Irish Americans held the first St. Patrick's Day parade on our shores in New York City in 1766. Does your town host a St. Patrick's Day parade? No it doesn’t. And this year, Covid 19 has cut out everything!
6) Leprechauns are a symbol of St. Patrick's Day. These small Irish fairies are said to live in the forest, guarding their gold. Do you more often wear silver or gold? More silver.
7) The signature color of St. Patrick's Day is green. Will you wear green next Tuesday? Yes, probably. I will have my grands here since schools are closed. I will use a 3 leaf clover to teach them about the Trinity.
8) This week's featured artist, Elvis, was the idol of millions. But not the Songfellows. In the early 1950s, a young Elvis auditioned for this gospel group and they refused him. Just as well, as the King of Rock 'n Roll did rather well for himself as a solo. Like Elvis, did you ever interview for a job that you didn't get? Yes, once.
9) Random question: Do you believe women are more emotional than men? I think they can be because of hormones. I was raised to hold my emotions in. It became a source of depression during perimenopause. I don’t hold it in anymore. I also think it depends on a persons personality and upbringing.

Happy Friday the 13th :)
Hubby and I went shopping yesterday and the stores were crazy busy. Anticipating that schools will close, we stocked up on things the grands like. And sure enough all schools are closed after today until April 6th! The things that we can't find are hand sanitizers. So I am going to make my own. Problem is that Aloe Vera gel is hard to come by too. WalMart stocked it in the morning at 8 am and gone by 9. Well I have a plant and I will look online on how to get the gel out of it. Luckily I we have alcohol since hubby needs it for his diabetes testing. Our pastor posted on Facebook and by email that church was going to be closed for the next few weeks. Services will be broadcast online. I got an email saying the conference I was going to in April has been postponed. In fact, I have gotten lots of emails telling me what is being done because of Clovid 19. Everyone is trying to be positive.
We have had rain for the past few days and more is coming though next week. We really need the rain, but it makes traffic crazy! We had to go pick up our grand yesterday from their after school care because they were drenched! Luckily my grand daughter fits into my smallest pants and shirt. Both kids got warm socks. Eddie wore an old pair of sweat pants I had. We won't have to worry about them in the rain now that they won't be going to school or Montessori. Hopefully there will be some breaks so Eddie can go out to play basketball.
I think that the government has to do what it has to do so that we don't end up with 1060 deaths like Italy. Friends keep posting pictures of what the stores look like. It is really strange to go to your local super market and not find toilet paper. Hubby got extra, but not sure how long it will last with the grands here with us. We live in a city with a population of around 180,000. We have a lot of markets and it is the larger stores like Sam's Club and Walmart that are crazy busy. I think it will be a good opportunity to bring out games because the kids can't be on electronics all day. Plus they will have to do homework daily. My daughter in law says their school will stay open since it is a private school with less than 150 students. I will also be bible journaling with the grands. I am so thankful we are retired!
